BUSINESS ENGLISH SERVICES
Unable to communicate even basic functions and answer basic
information questions on work-related topics as well as
shipboard safety. This level is not suitable for any rank
according to STCW 95 requirements.
Some basic communicative ability, but weak. This level is
probably not suitable for any rank according to STCW 95
requirements.
Ability to communicate in familiar situations only. In
accordance with STCW 95, this level is the minimum
requirement for ranks such as OS, AB, steward, bosun,
fitter, motorman etc.
Ability to communicate in familiar and unfamiliar
situations including emergency situations. In accordance
with STCW 95, this level is the minimum requirement for
ranks such as engineers, hotel staff on passenger vessels
and lower ranking, non-watchkeeping officers etc.
Ability to communicate in all situations and able to
communicate a range of functions including abstract ideas
and management functions. In accordance with STCW 95, this
level is the requirement for ranks such as master, chief
officer, watchkeeping engineers and officers, management
positions etc.
